The official Indian Navy recruitment notification is now live for the Permanent Commissioned Officer intake. Selected candidates will undergo a four-year degree course at the prestigious Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala under the 10+2 B.Tech Cadet Entry Scheme. The academic session begins in January 2027. The entire cost of training, books, and clothing is borne by the Indian Navy.

Indian Navy BTech Entry Vacancy Details 2026

A total of 60 vacancies are available across two primary technical branches. Candidates must indicate their branch preference directly during the online application process.

Technical Branch Name Total Vacancies

Electronics & Communication Engineering 30
Grand Total 60 Posts

Note: Out of the total seats, a maximum of 08 vacancies are specifically reserved for women (04 for Mechanical and 04 for Electronics & Communication). Additionally, based on merit during training, 07 candidates will be streamed into Naval Architecture & Shipbuilding.

Required Educational Qualifications & JEE Ranking

This is a highly specialized technical entry scheme. Candidates must possess the exact academic markers listed below to avoid immediate disqualification.

  • 12th Board Marks: You must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) with at least 70% aggregate marks specifically in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
  • English Marks: You must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in English, either in Class X or Class XII.
  • JEE Main Requirement: You must have appeared for the JEE (Main)-2026 exam for B.E/B.Tech. The Navy will issue Service Selection Board (SSB) call-ups based strictly on the JEE (Main) All India Common Rank List (CRL) published by the NTA.

Indian Navy Age Limit & Date of Birth

The Indian Navy age limit for this cadet entry is strictly enforced. Eligible candidates must be born between 02 Jul 2007 and 01 Jan 2010. Both of these dates are inclusive. There are no age relaxations provided under this specific scheme.

Selection Process & SSB Interviews

Naval Headquarters will apply a cut-off based on your JEE (Main) CRL to shortlist applications. Shortlisted candidates will receive SSB interview schedules for centers in Bengaluru, Bhopal, Kolkata, or Visakhapatnam starting from Sep 2026 onwards. Final merit is calculated using your SSB performance and clearing the strict medical fitness tests.

Admin Expert Analysis: Rejection-Proof Tips

I see candidates make the same mistake every year at my digital center. Do not round up your 12th board percentages. If you have 69.9% in PCM, the system will reject you; it must be exactly 70% or higher. Secondly, ensure you enter your All India Common Rank List (CRL) correctly in the form. Do not enter your category rank by mistake, as Naval Headquarters uses the CRL to decide the SSB cutoff.
